WE SOLVE MYSTERIES

What is this?

T.U.R.N.I.P.—The Tulalip Underground Research Network of Inconceivable Phenomenon—is a series of interactive puzzles and activities. Think Gravity Falls meets Highlights Magazine!

By solving case files, kids and families learn about staying healthy while exploring light-hearted mysteries. Each file has fun activities, puzzles, and stories that teach kids about important topics like eating well, staying safe during natural disasters, and staying active.

Adults can join in and talk with their kids about what they’re learning. Additional T.U.R.N.I.P. information will show up on this page throughout the summer.

WE BUILD THINGS

capture the daylight

Join us in this Capture the Daylight project for Tulalip’s storytellers, artists, builders, gamers, and coders to shape a world inside Roblox.

We are building a game together.

You’ll shape the look, the story, and the weirdness—whether you’re a writer, an artist, a fashion designer, a graphic designer, a gamer, or a coder. You’ll come up with characters, environments, challenges, and moments that define the world inside Roblox. You’ll figure out how things should feel, move, react, and connect, and you’ll see how individual ideas grow into something bigger.

Together, you’ll build a Tulalip-influenced world people can explore regardless of geography or generation. You don’t need experience, and you don’t need to know how to script or animate. All you need is a love of games and Tulalip, and you’ll learn skills you can use anywhere, even if you’ve never designed a game before.

The Details

The Roblox initiative is a student-led project in which high-school participants create a custom Tulalip-themed world inside Roblox. Students work together to define the setting, characters, visual style, challenges, and interactions that shape the experience. The focus is on collaborative creativity and building a space that reflects Tulalip culture and youth perspectives.

The project combines several types of creative work. Students contribute through writing, visual design, fashion and character design, environmental layout, gameplay structure, and light coding where needed. The work begins with ideas, sketches, and planning, then moves into building and refining the elements that make the world function and feel coherent.

Once complete, the world will be made available for people to explore regardless of geography or generation. The initiative aims to document the process, share the finished work with the community, and create a digital environment that can evolve through future student contributions.

Why are we doing this?

This project is part of the broader Capture the Daylight initiative, which focuses on connection across generations and within the Tulalip community. Creating a shared Roblox world allows students to express Tulalip identity in a format that can be explored by people regardless of age or location. It provides a digital space where youth perspectives, culture, and creativity can come together in one place.

Plus, Roblox rocks.

Virtual design sessions with the team take place every Thursday as part of your Projects Class from 1:40–2:45. In addition to these weekly sessions, there will be at least two longer in-person design sessions held in mid-January and mid-April.

The project will kickoff virtually on December 18 and will take place over the course of several months. We plan to launch by the end of the school year. In addition to building the world itself, students will also work on promotion and launch materials to support the final release.
