What is this?

T.U.R.N.I.P.—The Tulalip Underground Research Network of Inconceivable Phenomenon—is a series of interactive puzzles and activities. Think Gravity Falls meets Highlights Magazine!

 

By solving case files, kids and families learn about staying healthy while exploring light-hearted mysteries. Each file has fun activities, puzzles, and stories that teach kids about important topics like eating well, staying safe during natural disasters, and staying active.


 

Adults can join in and talk with their kids about what they’re learning. Additional T.U.R.N.I.P. information will show up on this page throughout the summer.

This program is made for kids in middle school and up, but the activities are fun for everybody!

We encourage participation from parents, grandparents, and elders.Whether you’re helping decode a clue or just tagging along on a mystery walk, your presence means a lot! 

T.U.R.N.I.P. case files will be available at Tulalip Community Health throughout the summer starting June 30th.

There are three different levels, in order of difficulty:

 

  • SENSITIVE
  • CLASSIFIED
  • TOP SECRET

Feel free to try different levels  to find your favorite stories.

Stop by every week to turn in the last case file, and pick up the next. Complete the tasks, write the final answers in your agent manual, turn them into Maggie at Community Health to get your raffle tickets!

PRIZES!

When you turn in a completed case file, you’ll  be entered into a raffle for the chance to win a Nintendo Switch 2! 

  • We will give away a Nintendo Switch 2 to one agent per age group. 
  • Additionally we will be giving category-specific prizes to ensure other agents are recognized for their accomplishments!

How does this connect with community health?

Each case file is secretly (or not-so-secretly) connected to services at Tulalip Community Health.

  • Nutrition-related activities or physical adventures might tie in with the diabetes program.
  • Others highlight wellness, storytelling, safety, or how to stay grounded in a sometimes-overwhelming world.

T.U.R.N.I.P. helps kids explore big ideas in through play, and helps families connect with the available resources.

Pssst… While the Kids Are Solving Cases

Hey there. While the kids are off on their wild adventures, you’ve got a moment. Maybe even a whole hour. Let’s make it yours.

Here are ten no-pressure ideas to help you recharge while they explore:

  • Sit down and do nothing for five minutes. No phone, no list, no goals. Just sit.
  • Make yourself a snack you don’t have to share. Maybe even eat it sitting down. Outside, if it’s nice.
  • Stretch. Just a few shoulder rolls or toe touches can help shake the day off.
  • Take a nap –  even if it’s just lying down with your eyes closed and the fan on.
  • Go for a walk with your best friend.
  • Give your eyes a screen break. Look out the window, trace the lines of a tree, or follow a bird in the sky.
  • Read something for fun. A book, a poem, a recipe, a comic – whatever gives your brain a smile.
  • Drink a big glass of water. Simple, powerful, often forgotten.
  • Step outside. Listen to the wind, notice the clouds, look at the world without trying to change it.
  • Do that one little thing you’ve been meaning to do – the tiniest errand or house repair.

Taking care of yourself helps you take care of others. You deserve this hour just as much as they do.
